Community Paramedics and EMS As A Business in 2018

This is a segment from the EMS 2017 End video series I just did where I sit with several EMS leaders to discuss their favorite two things from 2017 and what they want to see more in the coming year.

In this session Chris Cebollero from Cebollero & Assoc. joined me with his insight into Community Paramedics, EMS as a business and giving EMT’s more responsibility. Chris is a true EMS leader and pushed through this session even hough he was under the weather.

The EMS Identity, Who Are We?

medicsmalefemaleYou may have seen many times how EMS has an identity crisis. If you take a step back, it really is no wonder. It seems we are forever trying to come up with a name, what that name means and what anyone who holds that name can or can’t do.

Does it start at EMT and end with Community Paramedic? Ambulance driver or Nurse?

This week we ask the question “How can we decide on a name when we can’t decide on the job we want to do?”

Should we be sticking with what we know before trying to look at other things that may be mucking up the gears? Josh ponders “Maybe we should get under the nursing umbrella”.

Take a listen to this very lively episode and share what you think EMS should really be.

Combining EMS, Fire and Police Into One?

This week on the show we talk about an article on combing EMS, Fire and Police into one single all purpose Public Safety Office. We also hit on the Community Paramedic model and why we still see items like bite sticks and jaw screws being sold by leading EMS suppliers. Take a listen and leave your thoughts below.
