Do EMS Exams Really Gauge Provider Competency?

OK, so these episodes of Office Hours are always my favorite. This week I left the topic open ended and planned on discussing various items in EMS that are making the news etc. Josh began with an overview of his EMT CC course and then it evolved into EMS exams, their short comings and how they don’t necessarily mean a provider knows what they are doing by passing them. While I agree most EMS exams don’t give an accurate picture of competence, I think they can be a tool that is part of a bigger evaluation process. Take a listen and be sure to post your comments below.
